Andrew C. Thieneman Bio

Since retiring from his medical practice, Thieneman has pursued an avid interest in botany by volunteering for various environmental organizations in the state. He and his wife Martha reside in southern Indiana.

Thieneman’s philanthropic relationship with the College spans nearly four decades and reflects both loyalty to his alma mater and a deep commitment to its future. In 2017, Thieneman made a transformative estate gift to the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, an expression of his and his wife’s shared interest in language and culture. This landmark gift will establish three professorships, a graduate fellowship, an undergraduate scholarship, and other program support. Additionally, through impactful annual support for scholarships, fellowships, and faculty research, Thieneman is providing vital funding for current and future generations of student and faculty.
